Nina Alderete

This body of work focuses on small-scale surreal collage paintings made through intuitive choices. Collaged shapes, colors, and patterns create the structure of the painting. Once the text and image are finished the painting is waxed and then hand-sewn. The edges of the painting are sewn and then beaded. The closer you stand to the collage paintings the more materials and details you will see. The text on the painting is subtle but a focus of each painting.
