GUEMES ISLAND SUMMER ART MARKET AND STUDIO TOUR

The Summer 2024 Art Market and Studio Tour, in Skagit County, Washington, is a free self-guided adventure of gathering places featuring art and a series of personal artists' studios taking place on Saturday, June 8, from 10:00 to 4:00. It is exciting to experience the richness and diversity of the visual arts found on Guemes Island.

This event provides 38 Guemes Island artists with an opportunity to feature their work, and processes. June 8, 2024, offers a new format with a blend of two “Art Market” gathering locations just ¼ mile apart, three studios and one gallery.

Two “Art Market” locations with 35 artists are located at Guemes Island Community Hall and Paradise Pottery Studio. Amazing handmade pottery mugs, plates, and decorations by Jennie Mimnaugh are located at Paradise Pottery along with paintings and more. The Community Hall will feature blown glass creations of Donna McCord, home décor, and an affordable selection of watercolor cards.

Three artist studios open to the public, all located at the Southeast corner of the island and an easy bike ride from the ferry. The hand turned wooden bowls and platters of David McKibben are treasurers to carry home in your bike backpack. Check out the beautiful handmade jewelry constructed by Chris Shuman from used bicycle tires! Small enough and lightweight for any bike rider pocket or as “statement pieces” for any wardrobe.

Spirit of Guemes Art Gallery will host Island Explorers Summer Camp 2023 photography Exhibit with a focus on nature and Indigenous learning experiences.

Guemes Island is just a 5-minute ferry ride away from downtown Anacortes, located at the corner of 6th and I. Come by car, bike, or walk on the ferry. The two primary Art Market locations are located a ten-minute easy walking distance from the ferry landing. All of the art is found on the island map available online or as a handout at any stop. This could be your perfect Saturday adventure! Maps and details are available at "GuemesIslandArt.Org"
